About Kenn

Born in Toronto in 1966, Kenn Crawford grew up in the coal-mining town of Glace Bay on Cape Breton, an island off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada.
He spent his childhood reading books and making up stories; a hobby that led to his love of writing poetry, songs, and short stories. Eventually, he began writing books and screenplays.

In 2002, he wrote a weekly newspaper column about songwriting and home recording. He appeared in The Cape Bretoner Magazine as the featured songwriter, he founded one of the largest online groups for home recording enthusiasts, and he founded the official online mailing list for amateur and professional ventriloquists.

In 2016, he took his love of making up stories to the next level by writing, shooting, and directing short films.

In 2018, he won a “Canada Shorts” Director’s Award of Commendation.
Over the years he has founded several businesses, including an advertising company, a computer store, and a restaurant, all of which he later sold to pursue other business ventures. He also worked as a disc jockey, ventriloquist, musician, and owned a small recording studio.

Kenn lives on Cape Breton Island with his fiancé, Margie, shooting short films and music videos, and teaching writing and filmmaking workshops. He is currently working on several new fiction and nonfiction books.
